It’s a hidden hard fork.<br>You can’t force everyone to migrate to new addresses without breaking backward compatibility. That’s not a soft fork, it’s a network split waiting to happen.<br>2. The quantum threat isn’t real yet.<br>There’s no serious evidence that quantum computers can break Bitcoin anytime soon. Planning for a sci-fi future while risking Bitcoin today? That’s not smart engineering.<br>3. It needs centralized coordination.<br>Who sets the migration deadline? Who enforces it? That’s not how Bitcoin works. We don’t take orders from a committee.<br>4. It puts real users at risk.<br>Think cold storage, lost wallets, or even deceased users. Forcing a cutoff means those coins are gone forever. That’s not a bug, it’s a feature of the proposal. And it’s reckless.<br>5. It forgets Bitcoin is money.<br>People rely on Bitcoin as a store of value. If the rules can suddenly make your coins unspendable, trust breaks. You don’t mess with monetary guarantees.<br>6. There are better, voluntary paths.<br>We can add #quantum -safe address types. Let people move over time, if and when they want to.
